Wasshoi Hyakuman matsuri, in Kokura

Ésta ciudad de Kitakyushu esta compuesta por 5 ciudades que fueron unificadas en 1966. Cada ciudad tiene su festival (matsuri) típico, pero éste fue creado en 1988 como un esfuerzo para traer todos juntos simbolizando la unidad de la ciudad. El lugar de éste es en Kokura, el cual, junto con su castillo, su gran estación de tren y el centro comercial Riverwalk se considera como el corazón de Kitakyushu. Se puede ver un poco de todos, incluyendo los de Wakamatsu, Kurosaki y las "pirámides luminosas" de Tobata. También hay participan algunos de fuera de Kitakyushu, como el carro alegorico en forma de gran serpiente de la ciudad de Omuta. Alredor de 10,000 personas participan en la danza del Hyakuman (aunque en realidad Hyakuman significa un millón). Como resultado, mucha gente se reúne o viene de fuera para observar el evento. Kitakyushu is composed of five cities that where unificated in 1966. Each city had (and still have) its own typical festival (matsuri), although this one was created in 1988 in order to bring all of them together and symbolize the unification of the city. It has place in Kokura, that, with its castle, rail station, and the Riverwalk shopping center, is considered the heart of Kitakyushu. It is possible to see a little of all other festivals, including floats from the ones in Wakamatsu, Kurosaki, and the "light piramids" of the festival in Tobata. There are also others from outside of Kitakyushu, such as the big snake float from Omuta city. Also, about 10,000 persons participate in the "Hyakuman dance". As a result, a lot of people gather together or come from other places to see this event. The festival finishes with fireworks. As a difference of other town festivals, not all of the people that go wear the traditional yukata.
